Acreage Reporting: Put Mapping to Work for Your Insureds

Agents have options through the RCIS FarmMaps℠ mapping service, which could be especially helpful to policyholders during this time of social distancing. Through the use of the mapping tools and various map-based reports, policyholders can use the information to help meet their Farm Service Agency (FSA) reporting certification requirements.

Used as a tool throughout the insurance life cycle, the mapping system provides quick access to maps, visual representations of farmers’ fields and FSA data. It helps simplify the acreage reporting process, making it easier to link fields to units for common land unit (CLU) reporting requirements.

One feature of the RCIS mapping service that may be more valuable this year is the ability to create and sort map pages by Farm Number or Tract Number. This allows RCIS agencies to process the acres first for crop insurance reporting needs, then as a service to the policyholder, print a map by Farm/Tract Number that the insured may use to certify their acres for other farm programs. This sorting option better aligns with how FSA offices sort the planting information.

Below are options available to you as an RCIS agent, with the Producer Summary Report being most useful if the insured reports info to the FSA office first, and the other examples being more useful for cases where the producer reports with their agent first.

Acreage Reporting options:

  • Create the Map Based Acreage Reports map pages by Farm # and Tract #. You can also sort the pages this way.
