Hear from two RCIS Agents

Early adopters play important role in Acreage Reporting & Mapping to the Web transition

Crop insurance agents work around the clock and on-the-go, so the ability to quickly access and easily process documents is a never ending necessity. In a non-stop business, agents rely on technology more than ever, putting speed, user-friendliness and customizations at the top of their “must-have” tech capability lists.

To meet these demands, RCIS is dedicated to developing and rolling out new technologies to help streamline processes, increase efficiency and make agents’ jobs easier overall. Things like mapping, mobile capabilities and electronic documents have been streamlining the processes for a while now and will continue to be important.

RCIS’ new Acreage Reporting and Mapping to the Web capabilities make things faster, more easily customizable and more user-friendly.

It’s fast

Speed has always been integral to RCIS. “We’re always trying to get information on the fly,” says Bill Eining III, President & Owner of Marvin Kelley Insurance in Huron, South Dakota. “Having documents and data readily available really speeds up the process. RCIS has expanded their technology so you can take your phone or tablet out to the field with you. You can process your acreage reports right there. You can plant all the fields for the farmer and they can sign it.

Then you can send it back to your office where you just hit a button and it’ll process that acreage report for you and it’ll send everything to the Electronic Policyholder File. Poof! You’re done.”

With the new Acreage Reporting and Mapping to the Web capabilities, speed and efficiency are going to get even better.

“The new system is so much quicker. I can process acreage reports and quickly move on to the next...we’re not sitting here twiddling our thumbs waiting for the computer to finish saving something. Plus, the system is easier to get into and it’s easier to use. It’s not as cumbersome.

I can process the acreage reports for people faster and move on to the next,” says Dannye Bradfield a crop insurance agent of Oswald Crow in Rock Port, Missouri. “The new system doesn’t have to sit and think a lot. It’s pretty instantaneous. When you hit the button to save it, it saves it pretty fast.”

It’s customizable

Just as no two farms are the same, no two agents work exactly alike which is one reason the new Acreage Reporting and Mapping to the Web will provide added options. The new system gives agents the ability to locate the farms and the land locations and be able to view the CLU and the databases at the same time. Plus, it’s easy to switch between the map and the list view.

Eining also enjoys the new system’s versatility. “RCIS gives us all the tools we need to plant the fields and make them as customizable as you’d like. You can customize your view and the map boxes to exactly how you want them.

Bradfield has been impressed by easily being able to do a custom search for exactly what she needs. “You can search by the farm and track and field number or you can search by a legal description.”

It’s user friendly

The easily customizable features of Acreage Reporting and Mapping to the Web is just one way the new program is very user friendly, Eining says, “The intuitiveness of the system, the display and the ease of use is very nice. I love that you don’t have to go back and forth between farm maps and the systems. It’s all right there.

Being able to see the APH unit information, along with the maps at the same time is really nice. I can get a lot of work done in one place.” He adds, “The imagery is very nice and the whole system is well organized.”

Bradfield has also been impressed by the simplicity of the new system. “It’s easy to add the fields because you just search and then right click and save the field. Then when you go to book the acres you just click run a quick search for the field and right click.

That opens up a box where you can enter each field’s crop, acres and plant dates. It’s as easy as point and click.”

It’s service, 24/7

The new technology of Acreage Reporting and Mapping to the Web was created to ease the burden of time, creating efficiencies to serve an industry that doesn’t sleep.
