Around Zurich
A quick view of just some of what’s
happening with Direct Markets

Meeting Morikawa in Vegas
Just days after his strong second-place finish to Scottie Scheffler at the TOUR Championship in Atlanta, Zurich Golf Ambassador Collin Morikawa joined Zurich and several dealers at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas in September to share his latest golf tips and play a few holes with each foursome. Head of Direct Markets Jason Meador attended the event, part of a Zurich contingent that included several Direct Markets leaders, executives and managers. Events like this not only let us show our appreciation for our valued customers with a unique experience, they provide a chance to talk shop in a relaxed, informal setting…and have a lot of fun!

Zurich helps Raymond Auto celebrate Employee Appreciation Week
They may not be ready to compete with Collin Morikawa, but three employees of Raymond Chevrolet/Kia in Antioch, Illinois will be well-equipped for their next round of golf after winning some Zurich Classic swag and other gifts we provided for an Employee Appreciation Week raffle at the dealership in September. Pictured left to right in the photo are Rodney Ruiz, Terri Snyder and Tallon Cole — all part of owner Mark Scarpelli’s Raymond Auto Group team.
Risk insights shared in recent webinars
If you weren’t able to attend one of our recent webinars, we’ve got you covered. You can watch recordings of the events on the Zurich North America website. In September, we hosted a webinar on cybersecurity for auto dealerships, led by Nikki Ingram, Zurich North America’s AVP of Cyber Risk Engineering. This insightful presentation focused on cyber risks in the wake of the CDK Global cyberattack and the CrowdStrike IT outage, offering recommendations for resiliency in an environment of growing cyber threats. Our October webinar addressed rising claims costs and the factors driving this issue, including social inflation (increased litigation and large jury awards). Craig Davidson, Head of Direct Markets Property & Casualty Underwriting; and Ronda Tack, Direct Markets Risk Engineering Account Executive; were joined by Mahima Raghav, Senior Consultant for Claims Judicial and Legislative Affairs, to take a deep dive into this pressing issue.

Zurich spotlights profit participation at NAMAD conference
Regional F&I Manager Michael Naim led the presentation, “Leveraging Levers,” at the 44th Annual Membership Meeting of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD) in Miami this past August. Naim’s presentation focused on the transparency and navigation of a dealer’s profit participation program. “Our participation in the NAMAD conference not only highlighted Zurich’s expertise and leadership in the industry but also reinforced our dedication to driving change and building a brighter future for minority dealers nationwide,” said Naim, pictured on the right with NAMAD Chairman and former President Damon Lester, profiled in this issue.

Helping in the battle to end Alzheimer’s Disease
In August, F.A.S.T., the Direct Markets mentorship program, launched an employee challenge to support the Alzheimer’s Association®. Nearly seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease and one in three senior citizens dies suffering from Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. The campaign ran through October and raised $18,395. The global Z Zurich Foundation, which matches many employee charitable contributions, doubled their matching for this campaign during the month of September. F.A.S.T. charitable campaigns have raised over $191,000 since 2018 for worthy organizations including Acts of Kindness, the American Cancer Society, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and the 9/11 Day organization. You can read more about F.A.S.T. and why Zurich supports mentorship in the previous issue of Dealer Principal.

NADA heads to the Big Easy and Zurich will be there
As always, Zurich’s Direct Markets team will have a strong presence and plenty of great things to share with attendees at the National Automobile Dealers Association’s signature industry event, NADA Show. The 2025 edition takes place January 23-26 in New Orleans. Along with all kinds of industry happenings and networking opportunities, a big attraction will be the event’s main stage speakers, including legendary Duke basketball coach Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski and motivational speaker/consultant and best-selling author Ryan Leak. Our team will be on hand at the Zurich booth and around the event to let people know how Zurich supports the industry and to hear what’s on dealers’ minds. Look for future communications with more details on connecting with Zurich at NADA Show.
